6 beds | 5.3 baths | 4.4 Acres | MLS/ID#: 3537764

Situated in a private enclave amongst splendid real estate and acres of conservation land, this exquisite bespoke Colonial offers both classic and luxury design elements. Beautifully executed throughout its four floors of expansive living space, this six-bedroom home is as lovely as it is stately. Custom crafted with clapboard and shutters and topped with a cedar shingle roof, the home sits gracefully on 4.4 acres of professionally manicured grounds.  A pea gravel driveway buttressed with Belgian blocks leads to a circular landing at the home’s entrance, and then continues on to meet the attached four car garage.  Once inside, the two-story foyer hints at the home’s interior splendor with classic black and white marble flooring, coffered ceiling, and a sweeping staircase, beyond which sits an elegant seating nook with built-in shelving and oval window.  Arched doorways with fluted detailing to both the left and the right give way respectively to a living room and dining room. Both rooms feature hardwood flooring, chair rails and raised panel woodwork; the grand dining room is ornamented with dentil molding and recessed lighting for artwork, and the spacious living room enjoys crown molding and a gas fireplace.  In keeping with the balletic floorplan, another arched doorway creates an effortless segue between the living room and family room.  Adorned with pine-paneled walls and coffered ceiling, a gas fireplace, and window seats that overlooks the yard, the expansive family room achieves a beautiful balance of warmth and light.   The home’s kitchen is an entertainer’s delight with granite countertops, a center island, breakfast bar, Viking 6-burner stove, Sub-Zero refrigerator, and a separate butler’s pantry with wine refrigerator.  A generous dining area enhances the space with French doors that open out onto a brick and bluestone terrace and offer views of the pristine land and natural stone laid walls.  A limed oak library with built-in bookcases, bay windows, a coffered ceiling, and gas fireplace, contributes to the classic character of the home. A sunroom awash in natural light, with walls of windows and French doors to the yard, offers freshness and tranquility.  Two powder rooms, a mud room, and a second staircase complete the home’s first level. The second floor boasts an exquisite master suite appointed with grass cloth wall coverings, a gas fireplace with antique mantel, wall-to-wall carpeting, and crown molding. The spacious adjoining sitting room shares the gas fireplace and features a cathedral ceiling with decorative beams and fan, a pair of oval windows, and a wet bar with refrigerator.  Lattice doors ornament the fitted closets—one with a center island, one cedar closet, and a large linen closet.  The retreat continues in the opulent master bath; replete with a polished stainless-steel soaking tub set against a mosaic-tiled wall, custom vanities with marble countertops and Lacava sinks, glass and stainless-steel French doors leading to a steam shower with Horus France fixtures and a separate water closet, and a heated mosaic floor, the space boasts both lavish and striking details. The home’s second level also houses four more spacious bedrooms, two of which have en-suite bathrooms and three of which feature fitted walk-in closets; elements such as fine wall-to-wall carpeting and crown moldings are consistent throughout all four bedrooms.  An upstairs laundry room and a hall bathroom, impeccably finished with two custom vanities with mirrored accents, a large marble shower with glass doors, and a marble tile floor in a herringbone design, complete the second floor. The living space continues on the home’s upper and lower levels.  The third floor is handsomely finished with a lounge, sixth bedroom, and full bath with steam shower and porcelain double sink, while the lower level offers some truly unique spaces.  A custom wine cellar with steel French doors is temperature controlled and can house upwards of eight hundred bottles, and a separate tasting area strikes a lavish chord with tile flooring, an octagonal recessed ceiling, and decorative lighting.  The lower level offers even more with a spacious gym with bamboo square tile flooring, a craft/wrapping room with built-in cabinetry and walls of Venetian plaster, a laundry room with thick marble countertops, and a room designated specifically for entertaining. Complete with impressive millwork, a wet bar with glazed finishes, and a half bath through a hidden door, the entertaining room enhances the home’s seamless proclivity for welcoming guests.

Convenient to highway access and a mere thirty miles to New York City, this elegant Colonial offers an idyllic landscape in a desirable location.

Harding Twp. NJ

Harding Township (New Vernon), NJ real estate market

Established in 1922, Harding Township was named for then-President Warren G. Harding.  Its location 45 minutes from New York City belies the pastoral scenery; where horses, sheep, and cows graze in meadows and open fields. There are about 50 miles of bridle trails winding throughout Harding Township, which are maintained by the Harding Township/Green Village Bridle Path Association. This atmosphere is ensured for future generations since 40% of the township is protected open space.

New Vernon and Green Village are two sections of Harding, in southeastern Morris County. Forbes magazine ranked New Vernon as "one of the 25 most expensive zip codes" in the country in 2006.

Green Village is an unincorporated area within both Harding Township and Chatham Township. Located just north of the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge, Green Village has its own post office and fire station.
